My friend, Intan cooked lovely ayam rendang. Ever since she migrated to New Zealand, I didn’t get to eat nice aroma ayam rendang.
I always do my marketing at TTDI market. I like to shop it there and one of my marketing trip, I bumped into this shop, Soon Lee Yee Fatt Kee.
TS12, Pasar Besar Taman Tun Dr Ismail

This shop is famous for its santan and curry spices. They sell coconut extracts (santan, scraped coconut), authentic oriental spices, curry paste, various raw ingredient and local dessert ingredients such as cendol, cincau, etc
Christina and her hubby love the ayam rendang that we cooked for nasi lemak lunch. I told them I bought the freshly made paste from TTDI market and it’s very easy to cook out a delicious ayam rendang and impress your guests, just like how I've impressed the both of them.
The small bowl of rendang paste costs RM3 each (cook half a chicken) and the big bowl costs RM4 each (cook one whole chicken). For a small family size, we usually just cook half a chicken. I prefer lots of gravy to go with nasi lemak and as such, I still buy the big bowl of ayam rendang paste for the additional RM1.
Cooking method:
- Fry half, small bowl of onion and 1 table spoon of garlic till brown and fragrant.
- Add in cut pieces of one whole chicken
- Put in the big bowl of ayam rendang paste
- Add half glass of water (optional, for slightly diluted, more gravy)
- Add salt to taste
- Add in 1 whole coconut santan and let it boil.

Looks yummy :-). You can retire and become a stay at home mom and make a decent living through baking cakes :-)
