Neny, what did you buy?

I bought all these. The prawn cracker was priced at RM11 each, fish cracker RM10 each. The cuttlefish was at RM4.50 each (buy 3 at RM12), etc with total bill of RM70.20.

Holiday in Kuantan - Day 3

Sun 12 Oct 08
This is our last day in Kuantan.
Yuan Hui brought us to another famous place for curry noodle, Restoran Singrena.
After breakfast, they did their Kumon daily homework at the balcony of Christina's room. I was impressed with Xin Li and Jared, they were really good and focus in doing their homework.

After the Kumon homework, the kids and daddies had their last swim for the trip.

A very sentimental photo! I really like this photo. Yuan Hui has done a fabulous job in capturing this special moment.
Hubby was teaching Jared to breath under the water. Jared was scared of water, refused to breath under the water and Hubby managed to convince him to overcome his fear.

During our stay at Hyatt Regency resort, there were lots of riders outside the hotel. We understood from the hotel staff that the grand daughter of Sultan Pahang got married and lots of VIP guests stayed in the same hotel.

Who was the focus of this photo? The CEO of Direct Access, Nasir Razak was seen relaxing by the resort poolside.

We requested for late check out of 1pm from Hyatt resort, for the kids to have more swimming time, shower and packing.

Raymond invited us to his room for quick snack ie to help him to clear up the food they brought from home.

The group photos ... 7 ex-Cooperians, 6 spouses, 9 kids and 3 maids (not in photo).

The 9 kids.

We stopped by this shop for souvenir shopping. Christina and family did not join us as they need to rush back for Xin Li to attend his drama class in KL.

As we did not have proper lunch, we stopped by Karak for tea/early dinner. Check out my post on this famous durian tarts and durian bombs shop.

All in all we had a good, real fun trip, for us and the kids. Alex couple asked "When is the next trip? Please arrange next trip soon.
I am really glad that we had this trip.

Restoran Sri Mahkota Seafood, Kuantan

On our 2nd night, Christina suggested for seafood dinner and brought us to this restaurant that was recommended by her local friend.
Once we reached the restaurant, I saw this big, lighted up signboard. This restaurant was recommended by my sister too as her local friend brought her there to dine the last time she was in Kuantan. It must be a nice and famous restaurant since everybody seems to recommend this restaurant.
Restoran Sri Mahkota Seafood
No. 167, 169, 171 Jalan Haji Abdul Aziz
25000 Kuantan
Tel: 09-5134318, 012-9880218, 019-5634178

In the restaurant, we saw this impressive food menu.

The cook in this newspaper is the owner of this restaurant. He's also the one who recommended the food/dish for our dinner.

This lotus root mix vegetable tasted alright, nothing to shout for at RM20.

This Satay Prawn is their famous dish. The taste is ok and for RM56, I would not highly recommend this dish.

Another famous dish, Salted Egg Crab. This was yummy, superb and a must try dish (RM63).

This is another so, so dish ... Seafood tofu beancurd (RM35).

Another famous dish, Thousand Island Squid. I like this dish as its very tasty (RM27). Its quite rare to find thousand island with squid, usually thousand island with prawn.

Assam Pedas Ikan (RM60).

Lemon Chicken (RM16).

We ordered 7 dishes in total. The bill came up to RM293.60, inclusive of rice (RM9.60) and drink (RM7) for 7 adults and 4 kids.

The service was really good. There was a movie played on a notebook for the kids to watch.
Alex managed to capture a very interesting video of Ray's daughter and Jaden. Watch it here.

Mini Zoo Taman Teruntum, Kuantan

This mini zoo is just 5 mins drive from Hyatt Regency resort. We've been to this mini zoo during our 2nd trip to Kuantan and this time round, we went there again with Christina's family.

There's no entrance fee to enter the zoo, ample and free parking right in front of the zoo.

The two 5 years old boys. Xin Li carried Jared so as he was able to see the Sun Bear.

The Sun Bear was resting.

This photo was taken during our 1st visit to this mini zoo, when the Sun Bear was awake and active.

This large dome-shaped aviary houses a variety of birds and peacocks.

Seal, soaking in the water during a hot day.

It was a hot day and luckily the kids had caps and water with them.

There's horse riding available at a fee.

This photo was taken during our 1st trip to mini zoo. Jared had a ride of the horse and the horse stopped to do his business ie wee wee and poo poo. How rude! Jared got stunned and just watched and waited for the horse to complete its business.
This time round, he just refused to ride the horse again.

There's also a mini traffic learning pathway with battery powered vehicles for kids to ride on, at a fee too. However, the pathway and the vehicles were not well maintained.

Restoran Hoi Yin, Kuantan

This is a must try food when you are in Kuantan. As you walk out from Hyatt Regency hotel, at the T-junction, turn left and Hoi Yin is on your right hand side.

No. 31, Jalan Teluk Cempedak

25050 Kuantan

Pahang Darul Makmur

Tel : +609-567 3871

Operating hours : 7.00 am to 2.30pm

This restaurant sells curry noodle, noodle soup, dry noodle, etc.

I love the local coffee too. These were the coffee and cham before the stirs.

These are after the stir!

This restaurant is famous for its curry noodle. The curry noodle came with fish ball, fishcake, chicken meat, cockles, taupok, crunchy bean curd, etc.

Coffee was RM1.00 per cup and the curry mee was RM3.50 per bowl.

Holiday in Kuantan - Day 2

Sat, 11 Oct 08

This photo was taken at 8.23am on our 2nd day in Kuantan.

As we were walking out of the hotel, we saw lots of monkeys crossing the street ...

... and on the trees, on the grass, etc.

There are warong "Tree Under" that sells good nasi lemak, roti canai, etc and also KFC and Mc Donald. Hyatt Kuantan is located at Telok Chempedak which is a famous beach for the public. As such, there are lots of eatery, souvenir shops, etc along the vicinity.

Why would there be a Nissan XTrail on top of a big rock?

Can you spot Jimmy, the photographer behind the palm tree?

And Jimmy and his creation in action. The Nissan XTrail is a toy car and the big rock is a stone near Hyatt Kuantan pool.

And then, we saw this group of people having their morning training. I really love the scene in this resort, very relaxing, refreshing and eye catching.

After breakfast, Xin Li and Jared played bubbles outside the coffee house, next to the pool.

And not forgetting their Kumon homework.

Xin Li concentrating on his English Kumon homework. Somehow, its so much more easier to get kids to do things when they have partner. Otherwise, its going to be so difficult to get Jared to do his homework while on holiday.

Thereafter, we went to mini zoo which was just 5 mins drive from the hotel.

Raymond packed back rojak and cendol drink for us. Both were so delicious.

The 3 youngest kids of the group enjoying their sand castle.

and so were these 2 senior ones, our newly wed couple.

Their creation.

We also flied kites there.

This life mermaid has attracted lots of photos.

This photo of the group in action was taken at 6.47pm.

After a day packed with activities, we had late seafood dinner at 8.30pm at Restoran Sri Mahkota Seafood.

Kai Ying was having sore throat and after dinner, Raymond suggested to drop by McDonald for ice-cream.

We played Charade games with the kids. As most of the kids are 5 years old, we let them guessed animal, cartoon show, kids song, etc. Raymond was our actor for the game. The prizes were Nike socks and tumblers, sponsored by Bettina.
Check out this website to know more about Charade game.
