Oh! What a Day!

28 Mar 10
Oh! What a Day! When I thought of the list of things that I've to do for the day, its scary! I always ask myself ... why I always rush here and there?

I have obligation as a daughter, as a wife, as a mother, as a sister, as a friend, as business partner to my employer and not forgetting ... obligation to I, me and myself! That is to have my personal time, by myself, doing things that I like to do. And I always in a dilemma, is this selfish? Is this too much a request? Is this alright?

In the morning of this Sunday, I went for wet market shopping for family one week meals. Prior to that, I planned the menu for the week and ingredients that I need to buy.

After I came back from wet market shopping, we cooked pomfret soup noodle for lunch. Its our first time trying. Though not absolutely great, its not bad for a first timer. As hubby always say "Its eatable", which means "Its not nice, but can fill up the stomach". To me, this is a great improvement as he used to say "Can you please don't cook?"

At 2pm, I attended Papier mini album scrap booking workshop entitled "Life Story workshop by Wati Basri". I was so happy and glad to see Wati again. I've stopped scrap booking for awhile and this workshop, together with those participants, the lovely papers and layouts, the joy and relaxing atmosphere of scrap booking, reminded me how much I've missed scrap booking.

After the workshop, I joined hubby and family to have tea at Auntie YC's house. She bought Chi cake and brownies from "Just Heavenly" at Bangsar Shopping Centre. I forgotten to take pictures before those cakes were eaten but only this late piece left.

At 6.30pm, we went down for swim at Auntie YC's house. I did not plan to swim initially, but after seeing how they enjoyed the swim in the nice pool, I went up to change into swimming suit.

Jared loves Auntie YC's roast lamb and a few days ago, he requested his great auntie to cook it for him.
We had mushroom and cauliflower soup with garlic bread and the above sausage and potato as side dishes.

Carrot, capsicum, sweet potato with lots of garlic, herbs and olive oil.

Meat thermometer to check if the meat is cooked and oven thermometer to confirm the temperature of the oven.

Auntie YC bought this rack of lamb from the Gourmet, Bangsar Shopping Centre. The lamb was marinated and roast well that the skin was very crispy and moist.
The fragrant smell from the lamb made Jared very hungry and he can't wait for his Daddy to cut a piece for him.
Jared enjoying his food. We thought Jared the proper way of eating western meal, the way to hold knife and fork and cut meat properly in Western dining.

Thanks to Jared for initiating the request for roast lamb for dinner and thanks to Auntie YC for entertaining his request and had us for tea, swim and the gorgeous dinner.

Lastly, we had this traditional Japanese Umeshu, Choya Royal Honey for after dinner drink.

Papier Love's Luau Party

Last Sunday, I attended Papier's member day Luau Party. It was a Hawaiian theme party. The newly renovated shop was decorated in the Hawaiian party mood with Hawaiian music playing on the background. Papier team put in lots of effort and work in preparing grass skirts, leis and headbands for the guests.

The refreshment provided at the party was in line with the theme too. There were coconut, tropical tarts, fruits, marble cake, cream puff, sandwiches, etc decorated with mini paper umbrella.

There were Make n Take, Slice demo and Fun n Games session and also beautiful showcase of creative projects by Jessy and Rosa.

Farewell for Staff and Friend

Finally, CY's last working day with the company was on 6 May 09, just after our Apr 09 accounts closing.

FY suggested that we made a mini album scrapbook for CY. I bought the mini album from Papier and add on some matching embellishments, sticker, rub-ons, etc. We stayed back after office hour to make the scrapbook.

We compiled all the photos taken over the last 1.5 years in office, gathering, etc and grouped them accordingly.

Photos taken in office.

Photos taken during our trip to Spore for job handover.

Photos with ex-colleagues.

This page is designed by Cindy.

This page is designed by YF on gathering at my house.

Gathering at CY's house.

This page is designed by FY. For a 1st timer, she's really good and fast in finishing the page that we asked her to make 3 pages in total.

Autographing the album.

We are glad that CY likes the mini album and the autograph from office colleagues.

Farewell photo. CY bought all these gifts and chocolate for all of us in the department.

Best of luck in your future endeavours, Chin Ying.

Another Gathering and Farewell

After Fei Yin and I hosted lunches at home, we volunteered Chin Ying to host the next gathering, before she leaves us for her new job. Chin Ying claimed that she cant cook.

Fei Yin did a check on Chin Ying's dinner menu. Chin Ying told them that she would be preparing sausages, nuggets and jelly. There were instant complaint on the menu and all claimed that they have to have own dinner prior to going to Chin Ying's house for gathering.
When we reached Chin Ying's house, we saw a table full with food, nicely and elegantly presented.

Delifrance's mini tarts and nachos with salsa sauce.

Top hat (recipe from Chin Ying's mother in-law), nuggets, french fries and sausages.

Curry chicken cooked by Chin Ying's mother.

Yong Tau Foo by Chin Ying's mother too. This Yong Tau Foo is delicious, especially the meat filing.

Fried meehoon by Chin Ying's maid and chicken cooked with chicken wine by Chin Ying's mother.

Kids, young and old, playing Play Doh.

Ladies admiring the young, thin, youthful Chin Ying's old photos.

Boy and Guys and PS2 game, brought by Kenny.

Chin Ying was reluctant to have us at home as she always claim that her house is small. Look how spacious the house is.

I made bull eye's cheese cake and this frame for Chin Ying.
Chin Ying will be leaving our company next week. Over the last 1.5 years, the relationship has developed from colleagues to friends. She is a happy go lucky, helpful, nice and sweet girl. We'll surely miss her, especially during lunch time as she's our driver for lunch out.

Papier Make n Take - A day in the life of Jaden

Jo emailed me and ask "Why you only posted my mini album? Where's yours?". The truth was I hadn't finished my mini album then.

I promised Jo that I would finish my mini album by this week and thereafter, post in on my blog to share it with her and others.

Surprisingly, today I'm extremely awake albeit the flu medicine that I took earlier on. And here you are ...

These are the snapshots of the mini album for Jaden. All these photos were taken during our holiday trip to Kuantan in Oct 08. When Jared saw me printing Jaden's photos, he said "Mommy, you only print Jaden photos, where's Jared's photos?".

This is the cover with title "A day in the life of Jaden".

The 2nd page : What a handsome little guy.

The 3rd page : Jaden's first step on beach sand. He made a fuss about it initially.

The 4th page : Jaden had "Fun" building sand castle.

The 5th page : Playing see-saw up and down with Daddy at Kuantan mini zoo.

The 6th page : Jaden "enjoy" swimming with his tube and playing water gun.

The 7th page : The "rascal". Blue paper matched with Jaden's blue shirt.

Oh oh, its passed 2am. I better catch some sleep, it'll be a long day tomorrow ... tumbletots class, music class, weekly groceries shopping, etc.

Papier Make n Take

I've stopped scrapbooking for a while (and did more baking) until I received a sms from Papier informing me about the above event.

When Jo met me for lunch, we chat about scrapbooking and decided to attend the Make n Take session together. Doing favourite hobby together with our favourite buddy is always more fun than doing it alone.

Date: Sunday, December 15th, 2008 from 2pm to 6pm

Program:

  1. Demo on a cordless design cutter, Slice.
  2. "Make-n-Take" a Maya Road Mini Album project
  3. Lucky draw, where everyone wins a prize!
  4. Exclusive one day discounts (including the Slice)
  5. Big Apple donuts for tea time

The whole thing only cost RM50 for Papier member and RM60 per person for Non-Papier member. The best thing is we got to take home our mini album at the end of the session.

My scrapbook buddy, Jo.

For the Make n Take session, we did a Bird Coaster Chipboard mini album. The theme of the project was "A day in the life of ... " where we made a mini album of our favourite person doing various activities.

We were provided with the bird coaster chipboard shape, design papers, butterfly, dragonfly and snail chipboard shapes, acrylic paint, embellishments, etc.

This is the creation by Jo for her son, Athan.

Jo and I enjoyed the session very, very much. At least, at the end of the session, we have something to show to our hubbies.
