A BIG 40 Birthday

Initially, I wasn't sure how I should feel about today. Today is my birthday and I've reached another milestone ... that is 40. So sad, no more 30s.

Initially, I was thinking of having a BIG celebration but then I didn't feel comfortable with 40. That sounds so old! In addition, we usually send invitations for kids party and not "You are invited to celebrate my 40th birthday ...".

Many say age is just a number, so long we are young at heart, get wiser and smarter over the years. I like this saying and the younger ones, please remember this saying.

The other thing is with the technology getting advance, we are losing on personal touch and emotion. Rather than having non-stop ringing phone calls, I received smses and messages on Facebook for my birthday wishes. So sad ... didn't my friend want to chat with me?

One of the smses that worth to mention and treasure is from my best friend from secondary school (you know who you are :)

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!! Welcome 2d BIG 40 club ... hehehe

think of d bright side ... "F" from FORTY has many 2 offer ... Fabulous Future, Faith, Family, Friendship, Fruitfulness, Freedom, Frame, Favorable Food & many more ... may u enjoy all these!

Life begins when one hits d BIG FOUR '0' ... enjoy.

I didn't have any birthday cake on my birthday. Guess that people stop buying birthday cake for me just because I do bake cakes.

I took a day off from work today and had groceries shopping in the morning. Hubby took us out for lunch at Goldhill Club. Thereafter, I went for facial, massage and hair treatment. The good news is the staff there remembered my birthday and they thought I'm in my early 30s. Let's just keep it this way.

I thank my family and friends for remembering my birthday. Thank you for all the birthday wishes, be it in the form of sms, facebook, email, etc ... its the thought that count. Despite the challenging and demanding expectation from a working mother, I'm glad that I still have a spot in your heart. I'm glad that we are friends and ... I'm touched!

Happy 1st Birthday to treasure memories

Today is my blog, treasure memories 1st Birthday. I started blogging exactly a year ago and has since wrote 119 posts. That's about a post for every 3 days.

Initially, when I started blogging, I wasn't sure what to write or what I may write so as I didn't publish too much privacy on the internet. As I went along, I write when I feel like writing.

Most of my friends "salute" me for the passion and determination to create a diary to treasure memories. They wondered how I manage to find time to blog. I guess, its all about priority and interest. If you have the will, you will have the way and find time to do so. Though that means sacrificing my sleeping hours.

I do not wish to regret for not doing things that I wish to do, or sighing that I should have done this and that. All of us have 24 hours a day and I find "busy" is a very, extremely very, loosely used word. We used "busy" as a reason for not doing things or as an excuse for not wanting to do things.

I wish to improve on my blog, especially on the layout. As I also only have 24 hours a day, I need to prioritise. So what that my blog layout is not attractive or have lots of room for improvement. But its not my intention to have the most outstanding blog but rather an avenue for me to write and share with families and friends. Shall keep the blog this way till I find it eyes sore.

Do bear with me and stay tune!

Jared's First Letter

Last week, Jared asked his Daddy "How to write a letter? How to write an envelope?".

Today after lunch, since there's not much homework for Jared, Hubby decided to show Jared how to write a letter.

Jared wanted to write a letter to his Ah Ma (grandmother) in Segamat.

Hubby said letter should be dated and Jared wrote today's date on the letter.

They discussed what to write on the letter to Ah Ma. Jared wanted to talk about fishing. Hubby suggested Jared to tell Ah Ma about what he's doing currently ... about his Kumon and Yamaha. Then, Jared wrote about Kumon and his upcoming Yamaha music exam. As he wrote, he asked Hubby the spelling for some of the words.

The birthday sentence was his idea. Guess it was his hint for birthday present.

Finally, Hubby taught Jared how to fold the letter, put in an envelope and seal it. Jared wrote Ah Ma's address on envelope and paste a stamp on it.

After Kumon, Hubby took Jared to neighbourhood post office to drop off the letter at post box. Jared asked "How can the postman deliver the letter to Segamat since its so far to Segamat?".

I found this whole experience to be so special and sweet that I must blog it to capture and treasure this special memory.

Papier Love's Luau Party

Last Sunday, I attended Papier's member day Luau Party. It was a Hawaiian theme party. The newly renovated shop was decorated in the Hawaiian party mood with Hawaiian music playing on the background. Papier team put in lots of effort and work in preparing grass skirts, leis and headbands for the guests.

The refreshment provided at the party was in line with the theme too. There were coconut, tropical tarts, fruits, marble cake, cream puff, sandwiches, etc decorated with mini paper umbrella.

There were Make n Take, Slice demo and Fun n Games session and also beautiful showcase of creative projects by Jessy and Rosa.
